Cristi has now ended her Freshman Season as pitcher for the University of South Florida Bulls, and had an exceptional year in the pitching circle.   She made a great transition from High School to College Pitching.  

For the first time in their history, the USF Bulls became NCAA South Atlantic Regional Champions.  They went to California for the Super Regional tournament against #1 ranked, UCLA.  Although, in a best of 3 series, the UCLA Bruins eventually knocked USF out of the running for the Women's College Softball World series, with scores of 2-0 and 3-1, USF stood up to that noble powerhouse and played well against them.  USF just did not have the offensive firepower that would have been necessary to defeat a team like the Bruins.  

Cristi was a big part of USF's success in 2006, along with their other ace pitcher, Bree Spence.  If both continue pitching as they did this year, we will see a lot of post-season appearances from USF.  Let's just hope that they can bring in some heavy batters to provide the necessary run support.  

Cristi is now the record-holder for the total number of Strikeouts thrown by a USF Softball pitcher in their Freshman year, and is in third place on the USF all-time single-season Strikeout record!  (The former Freshman record was 169.)  Cristi is now also tied for second place on the USF all-time single season record for the number of Saves, with 5 to her credit.

Season Ending Games:

NCAA  Super-Regional Championship games May 27th-28th, at UCLA in Los Angeles, California.

These games, 1 on Saturday at 6:00 pm ET, and 1 on Sunday at 3:00 pm ET and 6:00 pm ET were televised on ESPNU.   Approximately 1 inning of the 3 pm Sunday game was simulcast on ESPN in between the second and third Michigan/Tennessee games.

Post-Season

49)  May 28, 2006:  In the second game of the NCAA Super- Regional Tournament, a best of 3 series against #1-UCLA in Los Angeles, Cristi started the second game after USF's 2-0 loss the previous day.  The game featured a rough start, with Cristi's first pitch being hit for a Home Run by power hitter Andrea Duran.  Nevertheless, Cristi kept her cool and pitched an excellent game thereafter.   USF lost the game, 3-1 thereby being eliminated from their Cinderella  run at the Women's College World Series.  Cristi pitches 5 innings, faces 24 batters; with 7 hits, 3 earned runs and 7 Strikeouts.  Cristi takes the loss.

48)  May 21, 2006:  In the Championship game of the NCAA Regional Tournament, Cristi relieved Cash who had taken out two crucial lefties in .2 innings of work, having relieved Spence after 2 innings against FAU.   USF won the championship game 7-4, despite FAU's scary 4-run 7th inning comeback attempt; Cristi pitches 4.1 innings, faces 23 batters; with 8 hits, 4 earned runs and 7 Strikeouts.  Cristi gets the win.

47)  May 20, 2006:  In the second game of the double-elimination NCAA Regional Tournament, Cristi relieved Spence after 3.1 innings against FAU, the Atlantic Sun Conference Champions.   USF won 1-0; Cristi pitches 3.2 innings, faces 11 batters; 0 hits, 0 runs, 4 Strikeouts.  Cristi gets the win. 
Cristi's Record: 23-11;   ERA: 0.98

46)  May 19, 2006:  In the first game of the double-elimination NCAA Regional Tournament, Cristi relieved Spence after 2 innings against the 22nd ranked North Carolina Tarheels.   USF won 2-1; Cristi pitches 5 innings, faces 14 batters; 0 hits, 0 runs, 4 Strikeouts.  Cristi gets the win. 
Cristi's Record: 22-11;   ERA: 0.99

45)  May 13, 2006:  In the first game of the single-elimination BIGEast Championship Tournament, Cristi relieved Spence after 3.2 innings against Pittsburgh.   USF loses 2-1; Cristi pitches 3.1 innings, faces 12 batters; 3 hits, 0 runs, 2 Strikeouts.  Spence takes the loss.

May 8, 2006: Cristi earns a BIGEast Honorable mention for the week of  May 1st - 8th, with a 2-0 Record; 0.84 ERA; 16.2 Innings Pitched, only 13 Hits allowed, 2 Runs, both Earned; 19 Strikeouts; and 1 Save on the week.

44)  May 7, 2006:  In the second game of a doubleheader against Rutgers (BE), the final game of the regular season, Cristi pitched a complete game.  USF wins 2-1; Cristi pitches 7 innings; faces 25 batters, w/4 hits, 1 earned run, 8 Strikeouts, and gets the win.

38)  April 29, 2006:  In the second game of a doubleheader against Notre Dame (BE), Cristi pitched 6.2 innings.  USF wins 7-3.  In her 6.2 innings, Cristi faces 30 batters, who manage to get 11 hits and 3 earned runs, but she chalks up another 8 Strikeouts, and grabs the win.

37)  April 23, 2006:  In the second game of a doubleheader against Syracuse (BE), Cristi pitched a complete game.  USF loses 0-1; Cristi pitches 7 innings; faces 25 batters, w/2 hits, 1 earned run, 4 Strikeouts (setting a new USF record for SOs pitched in a Freshman year, and takes the loss.

36)  April 23, 2006:  Cristi relieved Spence to start the 7th against Syracuse (BE).   With 1 Strikeout, Cristi ties the USF Freshman SO record at 169.  USF wins 3-1; Cristi pitches 1 inning, faces 4 batters, 2 hits, 0 runs, 1 Strikeout, Spence gets the win and Cristi gets the save.

27)  March 25, 2006:  Tough loss against Troy.  Cristi starts the game with a sore arm.   USF loses 17-5; Cristi pitches 2.1 innings; faces 15 batters, w/6 hits, 6 runs, all 6 earned, 2 Strikeouts, and takes the loss.

26)  March 24, 2006:  Cristi gets the consecutive complete game shutout against Troy.   USF wins 2-0; Cristi pitches 7 innings; faces 28 batters, w/7 hits, 0 runs, 8 Strikeouts, and gets the win.

March 21, 2006:  BIGEAST announces that ESPNU will air USF vs, Notre Dame on live TV on April 29.  The first game of the scheduled doubleheader will be aired live at Noon ET.  The 2006 BIGEAST Championship game on May 13 will be aired live by CSTV.  First pitch is slated for 6:00 p.m. ET.
