The author's mother graduated from this school, and his older sister and cousins attended it. Boys could attend through kindergarten and the pre-primary level of instruction, thus the author attended there too.

The author's cousin, Lourdes M. de la Fe and her daughter Maria de Lourdes, pose at the entrance to the school that Lourdes and her sisters attended as little girls.

A blown-up image from the above photo: As if to add insult to injury, the school's name has been changed to the "Sierra Maestra", the mountain range in eastern Cuba from which Castro orchestrated his takeover of the island.
